Analysis during Gait Initiation in the Patients with Impaired Leg

The elderly population over 65 years old increases and the proportion of ageing has reached 26.0% in Japan. The most frequent cause of the femoral neck fracture is due to fall. Some studies have reported that falls occur most frequently during the transitional phases of gait like initiation, termination or turning. The gait initiation is the transit movement and said that more instable for elderly populations. The mechanical analysis of transit movement among those people is thought to be useful to reduce the risk of falls during these movement in the elderly. In this study, we analyze the gait initiation in the patients with femoral neck fracture with three dimensional motion capture system and force plates.

The following is the animation of 3D Data in Gait Initiation.
